It’s Election Time - Run for an MSH office!

Have you ever thought about helping to make a difference in the histo world or being involved in moving histology in Michigan forward? Getting elected to an MSH office can turn those thoughts into reality!

The MSH board is looking for a few good techs to guide and promote the nationally acclaimed achievements our society has worked so hard for. Now is a great time for you to get involved and use your histo knowledge and skills to serve your profession. Doing this keeps you in the forefront of what’s happening in the field and gives you great opportunities to network with leaders in our profession. The Michigan Society has been a front-runner among the Histology societies in our country, and has blazed new trails in education, management, and policy. Now you can be a part of the team that leads these changes in the nation. Nominations must be current MSH members. Consider running for one of the following 2-yr positions:

  • President: Like an orchestra conductor, keeps all the people and projects moving forward in rhythm and harmony with each other. This position needs someone with good team leadership skills and an ability to see the immediate needs as well as focus on future growth for the society.
  • Vice President: The main event planner for both the Annual Symposium/Convention and the Winter Seminar. The VP appoints an Assistant Convention Coordinator to work closely with him/her as the other half of this team. This person needs great organizational skills and an innovative approach.
  • Secretary: Responsible for taking, reporting and communicating the minutes for the MSH board meetings. Good communication skills will be a benefit in this position.
  • Treasurer: Manages the society’s funds and expenditures, and keeps the MSH on a profitable path. Analytical savvy and financial understanding will be a benefit for this job.
  • Editor: Compiles and publishes the society’s award winning newsletter, the Mikro-Graf. A creative spirit and some experience with a computer-publishing program will be helpful.
  • MSH Delegates: As a constituent society of NSH, MSH is entitled to representation in the House of Delegates meeting at the Annual NSH Symposium/Convention. State delegates consist of the President and one delegate for each 50 NSH members or a portion thereof – MSH will be filling 3 positions for the 2018-2020 term. Delegates are our voice in NSH policymaking decisions and must be willing and able to attend the NSH during their 2-year term.

Intrigued? Make the jump! Don’t worry, you won’t be alone. There are officer’s notebooks with all the information you need to succeed, and the past officers will be available as advisors.

Nominate yourself or someone else you know that has the dedication and skills to run for an office.
